FAQ
Can
I replace a stamped pulley with split metal?
Not only can split steel replace stamped, but split
steel is a cost-effective upgrade in quality. The groove section of a split steel
pulley is uniformly formed from a single piece of solid plate steel. Split steel
pulleys run truer than their two-piece stamped counterparts and there are no
spot welds or rivets to fail.

Can I email prints?
Yes. This is actually preferred and will help communicate
your needs. Prints can be emailed in PDF, DXF, and DWG formats.
What is component consolidation?
There are many applications that use two or three
components that can be cast or machined as one to reduce assembly and manufacturing
costs as well as reduce fit issues and human errors.
What is the relationship between balance–vibration and
RPMs?
Balance is actually measured as amount of unbalance
that can be tolerated. This is weight multiplied by distance. RPM is not relevant
to balance it is only relevant to vibration. Vibration is effected by axial and
radial fit between components among many other product related features.

What is your quality policy?
Our quality policy follows the ISO 9000 philosophy
and has written process controls as standard operating procedures. More importantly
we stand behind what we sell.
Where can I find Diamond Precision Products’® pulleys
and components?
Industry standards can be found at your local Blain
(Farm & Fleet) Supply store, AFT Associate member, or contact us for an industry
specific distributor.
Industry specific components can be found by contacting Diamond Precision
Products® for design assistance or to quote your specific print for
production run pricing.
What is Commercial Zinc?
Commercial Zinc is the name or label given to a
zinc finish specification that is commonly used in finishing metal parts. When
specifying “Commercial Zinc”, you get a basic range of zinc finish
protection. The normal composition has a thickness of .0002” (two ten thousandths
of an inch) of zinc applied electrostatically.

Should I use Commercial Zinc as a final finish?
Commercial Zinc is normally used for indoor applications
or as the base coat for a more protective top coat such as paint. Finish protection
normally increases with increasing thickness.
Will paint adhere to a zinc finish?
Yes. Paint will adhere to a zinc finish. The use
of zinc as a base or primer coating for painting is very common. The protective
value of the combined finishes
(zinc + paint) normally gives excellent protection to the base metal.
Why is salt spray testing used?
Salt spray testing is a means to measure the relative
protective value of a particular finish. The American Society for Testing Methods
(ASTM) salt spray specification B 117-90 is a detailed testing method for controlling
the amount of salt spray solution, at what temperature, in what direction and
much more. The results, normally in hours of exposure, allows for comparison
of different finish formulations.

Will more finish protection cost more?
YES! You get what you pay for. A good manufacturer
will make sure you pay for what you need.
